2. The diesel engine runs but emits smoke
Cause analysis: In normal operation, the smoke emitted by the diesel engine is
colorless. Black smoke, blue smoke and white smoke emitted from the exhaust pipe
of the diesel engine are caused by the following reasons.
(1) Black smoke from the exhaust pipe of diesel engine is often caused by insufficient
mixing of diesel and air (large amount of diesel and small amount of air in cylinder)
and incomplete combustion of diesel. A large amount of diesel is discharged in the
form of free carbon particles, resulting in black smoke.
