------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matrox Imaging Library (8.0) Readme.txt Readme File April 11, 2005 Copyright© 2005 by Matrox Electronic Systems Ltd. All rights reserved. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This document explains MIL's directory structure, and contains some important information that might be useful to know before using the software. This file also lists and briefly describes other text files that are included on the CD. Note that these text files are intended to complement your manual and on-line help. The information found in this file takes precedence over formally documented material. Contents 1. What is on the MIL 8.0 CD? 2. Notes about the MIL 8.0 installation. 3. Note about installing under Windows XP and 2000. 4. Listing and brief description of the Readme files. 5. Licensing. 1. What is on the MIL 8.0 CD? Directory: Matrox Imaging\ActiveMil : ActiveMIL files. Matrox Imaging\Drivers : Board drivers. Matrox Imaging\Images : Image files for examples. Matrox Imaging\Intellicam : Matrox Intellicam files. Matrox Imaging\Mil : The Matrox Imaging Library files. Matrox Imaging\Tools : Tools including MilConfig, the license manager and the vision utilities. Matrox Imaging\Drivers\MGADRV : MGA driver for Windows 2000 and XP. Odyssey : The Matrox Odyssey Native Library files. Genesis : The Matrox Genesis Native Library files. 2. Notes about the MIL 8.0 installation. - The MIL 8.0 installation program can directly upgrade versions of MIL 6.0 or higher excluding all ES (Engineering sample) versions. - If you plan to install Matrox Genesis, Matrox Meteor-II/Digital, or Matrox Meteor-II/Camera Link board driver(s) during installation, MIL 8.0 cannot be installed on top of an existing MIL installation. In such cases, to install the new version, you should first uninstall the currently installed version of MIL. This problem is due to a Matrox Genesis Native Library limitation. Please note that this is the last MIL release to support the Matrox Genesis family. - Note that if MIL is installed using an integral hard drive duplication method, the target system must be completely identical (PC model and BIOS, memory size, hard drive size, slot position for the boards, ...) or MIL might not work properly. 3. Note about installing under Windows XP and 2000. - An IEEE 1394 camera must be connected to the Matrox Meteor-II/1394 board when installing for this board under Windows XP or Windows 2000. Failure to do so will result in the drivers for 1394 NOT being installed. Furthermore, an IEEE 1394 camera must be connected to the Matrox Meteor-II/1394 before running any application, including Matrox Intellicam, which uses the Matrox Meteor-II/1394. Initialization of some 1394 cameras may take several seconds. 4. Listing and brief description of the Readme files. Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\read.me : Info on how to start using MIL. Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\Whatsnew.txt : What's new in MIL. Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\LastMinute.txt : Last minute, general information that is not included in the documentation. Matrox Imaging\drivers\corona_II\MILCor_II.TXT (Matrox Corona-II),: Last minute, board-specific information that Matrox Imaging\drivers\genesis\MILGen.txt (Matrox Genesis), is not included in the documentation. Matrox Imaging\drivers\meteor_II\MILMet2.txt (Matrox Meteor-II), Matrox Imaging\drivers\orion\MILOrion.txt (Matrox Orion), Matrox Imaging\drivers\cronosplus\MILCronosPlus.txt (Matrox CronosPlus), Matrox Imaging\drivers\Helios\MILHelios.txt (Matrox Helios), Matrox Imaging\drivers\Odyssey\MILOdyssey.txt (Matrox Odyssey), Matrox Imaging\drivers\Morphis\MILMorphis.txt (Matrox Morphis) Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\MMX.txt : MIL functions that are MMX optimized. Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\SSE.txt : MIL functions that are SSE optimized. Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\SSE2.txt : MIL functions that are SSE2 optimized. Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\HeliosPA.txt : MIL functions that are supported on the Matrox Helios Pixel-Accelerator (PA). Matrox Imaging\mil\doc\OdysseyPA.txt : MIL functions that are supported on the Matrox Odyssey Pixel-Accelerator (PA). Matrox Imaging\mil\examples\mdispmfc\MDispmfcReadMe.txt : A summary of the files that make up the MdispMFC application, which demonstrates the basics of using MIL with Microsoft Foundation classes. 5. Licensing An IEEE 1394 camera must be connected to the Matrox Meteor-II/1394 when this board is used as a System Fingerprint for a software license-key under Windows XP or Windows 2000. Failure to do so will result in the software license not being recognized.
